or you’re transferring care, your first appointment sets the foundation for your long-term oral health.

How much time is set aside for the first appointment?
- 90 minutes on hygiene
- or 30 minutes with Dr. Hoftiezer, then hygiene for 60 minutes
What can a new patient expect?
- FMX or BWS and pano (depending on dental issues and health)
- Wellness scan
- Intraoral photos
What treatment is provided at the first appointment?
- A series of digital x-rays suited to specific patient needs
- Comprehensive oral evaluation
- Intra-oral photo tour of your entire mouth
- Charting any existing restorations and current decay
- Preliminary perio charting
- SCAN with iTero
- Oral cancer screening / TMJ evaluation
Is a dental cleaning included?
- Yes, or perio treatment depending on the patient’s needs
- (If not, it may be due to severe perio that requires referral – extremely seldom)
What’s Included in a Routine Dental Cleaning & Exam:
- Health history review (i.e. medications, allergies, any new conditions)
- Digital X-rays (BWX, VBWX, or Pano as needed)
- Full mouth periodontal exam
- Intraoral photos
- Dental cleaning or periodontal treatment
- Oral cancer screening and head/neck exam
- Cosmetic analysis (shape and shade of teeth)
- Orthodontic evaluation and TMJ exam
- Comprehensive oral evaluation
- Diagnosis of decay or breakdown
- Addressing concerns or questions
